Dear Chones,

A recent night in Lower Haight, VenGist showed off a 1914 edition of Bergsons Creative Evolution that he found at a used bookstore in Palo Alto. Tony Lai read passages about time and not nothing.

Exeunt compared us to pirates; Josh explained the Just Transition; Wackerow and Manu give the best hugs. They lifted my spirits, after listening to some VC attorneys talk to Stanford students.

FarCon is next week. I won't forget to bring a kite, because NounishProf shared a reminder robot.

Dear Chones,

In September 2023, MolochDAO sent 105 WETH towards the legal defense of Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm, developers for Tornado Cash. Today, MetaCartel is sending 38.8 WETH and Public Nouns is sending 5 ETH.

April 10-16, 2024, many events across the Bay Area will bring experts together to discuss how best to govern and fund the commons and public goods. I'm looking forward to spending time with intentional and brilliant friends. Coinciding with these events, Chones is running a crowdfund on Yeeter to raise a matching pool for a Gitcoin quadratic funding round, which will distribute funds to projects that are free and open, and solve challenges for local ecologies.

The Farcaster tabletop community is planning a side event for FarCon. Let's play board games together.

Dear Chones,

Read Write Own launch party in LA was less about a16z and more about local internet friends. I finally met Ted and Humpty, hung out a bit with Zayi, which is always fun, and begged for bonding curves for NFTs to someone from Zora.

dylsteck had the best energy, presenting about Farcaster at Causal Islands, but somehow I missed bradbarrish. Can't let that happen at FarCon.

jacq was at The Brewery Art Walk. Luckily rg4w was there too, because he had all the art contexts and I just absorbed the two of them riffing!

Plor joined Chones core team, as tech weaver. You know how we've been talking about composability, but have mostly been building the bricks? Plor is an onchain Lego Master Builder. Chones just got super charged!

Dear Chones,

Put two DAO proposals up for discussion today. Can't count how many times I've done that, but these two feel vulnerable. It's the good kinda scared.

ECWireless, Earth2Travis, Sam Kuhlmann, Plor, Dekan and I hung out on Discord for most of the day last Friday. We hacked on Farcaster Frames. Days like that are why I was so excited to join Raid Guild, when everyone works together. ECWireless was hacking the most and E2T made everything flow, but like E2T said, "that's one helluva squad."

FarHack 2024 was announced yesterday. I feel like we're gonna be talking about this hackathon for years.

Dear Chones,

The Farcaster developers call today was actually fun. My favorite part was when Dan said that the newest feature will prioritize supporting the community's creativity. Meaning that we get to make more stuff on Farcaster!

Farcaster community is fun! There's lots of building and experimenting. You can't possibly keep up with everything, which is exciting! It feels like spring, with trees budding and new plants sprouting. I have my FarCon Summit Pass and will be listening to GM Farcaster.

Thank you for hearing all the Farcaster stuff. That dev call got me excited today.

Dear Chones,

Did you hear Beyondr read "You're not your fucking khakis", from "Fight Club"? If he does it again, I'll havta let you know beforehand.

There were two kids out my window trying to surf the gutter with a boogie board. It's been raining this week.

earth2travis totally gave me some real emotional suport today. I was ready to take a break from studying token engineering, and he described the next module to me, so I'd actually look forward to doing the work to learn it. Thank you Travis!

Dear Chones,

I first met Bea in summer 2022 at DAO Palace. She moved me to tears when she showed me what DADA made for NFT NYC and how the artists found ways to include members of the community who couldn't make it out to New York. I hope to see Bea and Lenara this summer and experience what they create.

This Friday and Saturday, I'll be in LA. The plan is to finally hang out with errorgardner and Sinde! I fantasize about our future, like golden girls, with chardonnay in the afternoon and boy-girl parties at 2:00 am.

Addigator wants to ski! You won't be able to catch her.

Dear Chones,

In 1987, artists, including Salvador Dali and Jean-Michel Basquiat, made a carnival in Hamburg called Luna Luna. Recently, the pieces were moved out of storage and into a massive warehouse in Los Angeles. I went to this new Luna Luna. You can't ride the art, but it still felt like an interactive experience. Let's go again.

I worked through the holidays. Exeunt did too. Seeing his messages in the Telegram channels felt like there's someone else who can't shut down the laptop either. It's not like I don't want to unplug; it's just that my mind is chewing on problems that are too interesting to put aside, kinda like not being able to sleep and having to get up to write some notes down, and then the sun is rising.

Sky was around too, but he seems more reliably supportive, than obsessive. I imagine us like ocean explorers, with Exeunt swimming down into trenches and Sky showing us how to keep our oxygen tanks full, from the bottom of the ocean, which you would think was impossible, but we are still breathing.
